Our history and ethos
After close collaboration between their two internal audit teams, the former North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council came together in 2009 to create Veritau Limited.
This was an innovative partnership between the two councils allowing for economies of scale in a key corporate service.
During the next few years, a further seven local authorities joined Veritau.
In 2023, as part of local government reorganisation (LGR), six of our existing member councils merged with two other district councils to form the unitary authority, North Yorkshire Council.
Further changes came in 2024, when we created a new company jointly controlled by our member councils called Veritau Public Sector Limited. We also welcomed Cherwell District Council and Leicester City Council to the partnership. Veritau Public Sector now has six member councils and employs over 100 staff. Veritau Limited continues to provide services to our other clients.
