FFCL releases Adult Social Care Fraud toolkit

21 March 2025

Fighting Fraud and Corruption Locally (FFCL), the organisation dedicated to combatting fraud and corruption committed against local authorities, has released an Adult Social Care Fraud toolkit.

The toolkit has been designed to support councils in their fight against adult social care fraud and aims to raise awareness of the different types of fraud that can occur in this area, as well as highlighting best practice for prevention, detection and investigation.

According to CIPFA, adult social care fraud is considered to be one of the top five fraud risk areas faced by local authorities and in recent years has become a major area of focus for the Counter Fraud team at Veritau.

Jonathan Dodsworth, Assistant Director – Corporate Fraud at Veritau, chaired the FFCL working group, which consisted of representatives from a number of local authorities. Jonathan said:

“Adult social care fraud is one of the highest areas of loss experienced by the councils we work for and like other members of our group, we felt it was crucial to help raise awareness.

This toolkit has been created to support councils to address the problem and give people working in councils the knowledge and confidence to identify and report suspected fraud.”

You can view the toolkit on the Cifas website.
