Fraud team nominated for IRRV award fourth year running

We’re excited to announce that our fraud team has been shortlisted for ‘Excellence in Counter Fraud’ for the fourth year running
The Performance Awards, run by the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV), will take place on 9 October this year in Telford.
The awards recognise teams that have made outstanding achievements in the field of counter fraud. In the last four years, our team has recovered over £2million in actual savings for clients. A further £850k has been delivered in notional savings, such as the recovery of council properties.
By generating savings and preventing losses, Veritau has helped our client councils to protect tax payers’ money and support the financial viability of key public sector services.
Veritau’s approach to counter fraud recognises the challenges facing local government today. Levels of fraud are rising and fraudsters are becoming increasingly sophisticated in both their attempts and ability to evade detection.
The reductions in funding to councils have made them more vulnerable to fraud at a time when they can ill afford it.
